The pendant is inspired by a type of statuette found in excavations at various Minoan archeological sites. The “Goddess of the Snake” appears
that she had the broader function of the universal Mother or Goddess of the Earth and was therefore primarily a fertility deity. Evans gave her
basis for the argument that the Minoans lived in a matriarchal society and the Renaissance symbolized the decay and rebirth of vegetation.
